Eastwood, who doesn't carry a spare ounce on his lean body, doesn't have any padding in his movie, either: Even as the film approaches the deep emotion of its final scenes, he doesn't go for easy sentiment, but regards these people, level-eyed, as they do what they have to do.
Some directors lose focus as they grow older. Others gain it, learning how to tell a story that contains everything it needs and absolutely nothing else. Yes, " Mystic River " is a great film, but this one finds the simplicity and directness of classical storytelling; it is the kind of movie where you sit very quietly in the theater and are drawn deeply into lives that you care very much about.
Morgan Freeman is the narrator, just as he was in " The Shawshank Redemption ," which this film resembles in the way the Freeman character describes a man who became his lifelong study. The voice is flat and factual: You never hear Scrap going for an affect or putting a spin on his words. He just wants to tell us what happened.
He talks about how the girl walked into the gym, how she wouldn't leave, how Frankie finally agreed to train her, and what happened then. But Scrap is not merely an observer; the film gives him a life of his own when the others are offscreen. It is about all three of these people. Hilary Swank is astonishing as Maggie. However, while at the store to buy it, she discovers Mr. Burns feeling very happy playing Funtendo Zii Sports. She decides to buy this for the senior citizens, hoping they will feel younger and happier. When playing the Zii, the senior citizens feel very happy and feel younger.
This forces the nurses at the home to work extra hard after their workout, prompting them to wash the Zii in the dishwasher, causing it to break. Lisa becomes angry at the nurses for doing it on purpose, thus showing their disregard for the senior citizens. However, the nurses blow her off. The senior citizens then return to their boring selves, staring at TV static. In July , it was announced that singer Chris Martin of the band Coldplay would guest star as himself in the episode.
The episode featured a new character created by the winner of the "Best. She described Ricardo as "someone that all the women love and all the men want to be". Black's inspiration for the character came from the fact that there were no characters like him on The Simpsons , and she thought Springfield needed "something like a Casanova ".

However, "Million Dollar Baby" is one of his better scores, my personal favorite next to "Unforgiven." The first half really is a lot of simple alternations on the same theme, going back and forth between a solo aucoustic guitar and solo piano, with occasional light /5(22).
